Mumbai, May 23: Actor Bobby Deol became visibly emotional while speaking about life after the passing of his father, legendary actor Dharmendra during a recent appearance on the relaunched chat show Shekhar Tonite.
In a heartfelt conversation with host Shekhar Suman, Bobby Deol reflected on the emotional void left behind by his father, describing him as a globally loved personality whose absence continues to be deeply felt.
During the interaction, Shekhar Suman compared Dharmendra’s presence in the family to a large tree offering shade and protection, saying that life feels empty once such a figure is gone.

Bobby Deol responded emotionally, acknowledging the pain of loss and extending empathy to Shekhar Suman, who has also experienced personal tragedy. He said that grief is something that never fully goes away.
Speaking about his father, Bobby Deol said Dharmendra was not only deeply loved within the family but also by fans across the world. He added that wherever he goes, people still speak about his father with affection and emotion, highlighting the lasting impact of his legacy.
He described Dharmendra as a “special” person whose warmth and popularity extended far beyond cinema.
Shekhar Suman also recalled Dharmendra’s humility and simplicity, noting that he treated everyone equally—whether family members or staff at his farmhouse—often engaging in friendly conversations with gardeners, helpers, and visitors alike.
Dharmendra, one of Indian cinema’s most iconic stars, enjoyed a career spanning over six decades, delivering memorable performances in films such as Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Satyakam, Seeta Aur Geeta, and Phool Aur Patthar.
He passed away in November 2025 at the age of 89, just days before his 90th birthday, leaving behind a celebrated legacy in Indian film history.
