Nirmal, Jun 9: In a remarkable show of faith in public education, residents of Babapur village in Lakshmanachanda Mandal of Telangana's Nirmal district have unanimously resolved to enrol their children in government schools instead of private institutions.

The decision was taken after a series of village meetings in which residents discussed the future of education and the overall development of the community.

Predominantly comprising farming families, the villagers held detailed deliberations at the panchayat level and passed a resolution stating that all children from the village should pursue their education in government schools. Residents expressed confidence that government institutions are capable of providing quality education and contributing to the holistic development of children.

Village Sarpanch Padigela Lakshmi said quality education is vital for the progress of both children and the village. She noted that an increase in student enrolment would further strengthen government schools and help improve educational standards.

Lakshmi also praised the experience and dedication of government school teachers, stating that public schools play a crucial role in delivering quality education to poor and middle-class families, particularly in rural and remote areas.

The village's collective decision has drawn appreciation from educationists, local residents and community leaders, who believe it could serve as a model for other villages across Telangana.

Observers say the initiative sends a strong message about the importance of supporting government education and highlights the role of community participation in strengthening public institutions.

The move is being seen as a significant step towards improving enrolment in government schools while encouraging greater public confidence in the state's education system.
