Mumbai, Jun 10: Actress Karisma Kapoor recently took a nostalgic trip down memory lane while appearing as a judge on the dance reality show "India’s Best Dancer Season 5", revealing which film required the most extensive rehearsals of her career.
Speaking about her journey as a performer, Karisma shared that the 1997 blockbuster "Dil To Pagal Hai" stands out as the project for which she spent the longest time rehearsing. The actress recalled the intense preparation that went into the film’s elaborate dance sequences and musical performances.

“We never really got much opportunity to rehearse extensively in those days, but if I had to pick one project, it would definitely be ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’. That was the film where I rehearsed the most,” she said.
Karisma explained that the film was a landmark project not only because of its scale but also because it marked the Bollywood debut of renowned choreographer Shiamak Davar. Working alongside a visionary team led by filmmaker Yash Chopra, the cast and crew were determined to create something unique and memorable.
“Since it was our first collaboration with Shiamak and Yash Chopra Ji wanted the film to be special, everyone was focused on making it extraordinary. We wanted every performance to be perfect and unforgettable,” she recalled.
The actress also reflected on the enduring popularity of the musical drama, expressing gratitude to audiences for continuing to celebrate the film decades after its release.
“I feel blessed that the audience still showers so much love on ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’. The appreciation for songs like ‘Le Gayi Le Gayi’ and the iconic ‘Dance of Envy’ continues even today, and I’m truly thankful for that,” Karisma said.
Released in 1997, "Dil To Pagal Hai" starred Karisma Kapoor alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit. Directed by Yash Chopra, the romantic musical became one of the defining films of its era, earning acclaim for its music, choreography, and performances.
The film also marked a significant milestone in Karisma’s career. Her portrayal of Nisha earned her the prestigious National Film Awards award for Best Supporting Actress, while the film itself won multiple honours, including the award for Best Popular Film.
"Dil To Pagal Hai" continues to enjoy a special place among Bollywood classics, remembered for its memorable soundtrack, groundbreaking choreography, and timeless performances.
