Mumbai, Jun 21: Comedian Samay Raina returned with the second season of ‘India’s Got Latent’ and made a memorable comeback by roasting Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt during the opening episode featuring Alia and actress Sharvari as special guests.
Known for his unfiltered humour, Samay welcomed Alia by calling her the biggest celebrity to appear on the show, before adding a cheeky punchline that left the audience in splits.
“She is the biggest guest we have had till now in Latent. Highest point of Latent, lowest point of her career,” he joked.

The episode was part of the promotional campaign for Alia and Sharvari’s upcoming film ‘Alpha’. Throughout the conversation, Samay continued his trademark teasing, including a joke about Alia’s popularity and her husband.
“Feeling nervous sitting next to you, big fan of your... husband,” he said, drawing laughter from the guests and audience.
Samay also took playful digs at Alia’s international appearances, including her Cannes appearance, while comparing the prestigious event with the unconventional format of ‘India’s Got Latent’.
“Why the f**k are you here? Why did you come to Latent? Kahan Cannes, kahan Latent. But yahan cameras aap pe hai,” he joked.
The comedian also revived one of Alia’s most viral moments from ‘Koffee With Karan’ when he asked her about her favourite state. As she paused to answer, Samay quipped, “State poocha hai, President nahi,” referring to her earlier confusion over a question about India’s President.
When Alia admitted that she was beginning to regret appearing on the show, Samay quickly responded with another joke.
“I regretted it too after watching Jigra,” he said, referring to Alia’s 2024 film.
Alia responded with humour, saying, “At least you watched the film. Thank you for contributing,” earning applause from the audience.
Sharvari was also pulled into the roast when Samay jokingly asked, “Who are you?” before introducing her as “Alia’s plus one”. The actress took the jokes sportingly and revealed that she had watched ‘India’s Got Latent’ through clips and news coverage.
The second season of the show arrives after the controversy surrounding its previous season, which followed remarks made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia during an episode. The incident had triggered widespread criticism, police complaints and legal action involving the show’s creators and participants.
The new season of ‘India’s Got Latent’ is being released simultaneously on YouTube and Netflix, with episodes available in the same format on both platforms.
