Haldia Petrochemicals pipeline fire leaves 20 injured, firefighting operations underway

Haldia, Jun 30: A major fire broke out at Haldia Petrochemicals’ naphtha pipeline in West Bengal’s Haldia on Tuesday morning, leaving around 20 people injured and triggering panic among residents in the surrounding areas.

The fire erupted at around 4 am on June 30 and soon spread towards Chiranjeevpur in Ward No. 13 of Haldia Municipality. As flames and smoke rose from the area, local residents came out of their homes in fear.

Twelve fire engines were pressed into service to control the blaze, with firefighters working to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further.

The incident at the petrochemical facility created concern among nearby residents, who gathered outside their houses after noticing the fire.

Authorities have initiated efforts to bring the situation under control and assess the extent of damage caused by the pipeline fire. The cause of the incident is yet to be confirmed.

Officials are monitoring the situation and further details regarding the condition of the injured and the impact of the fire are awaited.
