Udupi, Jul 9: Trinity Central School celebrated Vanamahotsava along with the 800th anniversary of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of Ecology, with great enthusiasm and reverence.
The programme highlighted the importance of environmental conservation while drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Saint Francis, who lovingly regarded all of God's creation as brothers and sisters.
The celebration was graced by Jeeth Milan Roche, popularly known as the tree man of Mangaluru, a renowned environmentalist, social entrepreneur, forest friend and secretary of Vana Charitable Trust, as the chief guest.














The programme commenced with a solemn prayer seeking God's blessings on the occasion. The dignitaries present included the chief guest Jeeth Milan Roche, Ganesh, the environmental officer, principal, Fr Dominic Sunil Lobo, academic coordinator, section heads, teaching and non-teaching staff.
A warm welcome was extended to the gathering by Sweenal of grade 4A, who introduced the chief guest and highlighted his inspiring contributions towards environmental protection.
The formal inauguration of the program was marked by the ceremonial planting of a sapling by the dignitaries on the dais, symbolising the school's commitment to preserving and nurturing nature. Students also placed potted plants on the stage, reinforcing the message of environmental responsibility.
As part of the celebration, Kaira of grade 4C led the gathering in an environmental pledge, encouraging everyone to protect and preserve nature. Addressing the gathering, the chief guest, Roche shared valuable insights on the urgent need for environmental conservation and inspired the students to become responsible stewards of God's creation.
The cultural programme featured a vibrant dance performance, a devotional song dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi, a thought-provoking street play on environmental awareness, and an informative speech on the life and teachings of Saint Francis delivered by Thashvi of grade 4C.
The gathering was further enriched by an inspiring address from the principal, Fr Dominic Sunil Lobo, who encouraged the students to embrace the values of simplicity, compassion and care for the environment exemplified by Saint Francis of Assisi.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Lenston of grade 4A, expressing gratitude to the chief guest and all for making the celebration meaningful and memorable.
The celebration served as a powerful reminder that protecting nature is both a shared responsibility and a sacred duty. It inspired everyone present to become active caretakers of the environment, carrying forward the legacy of Saint Francis of Assisi through love, respect and responsible stewardship of God's creation.
