Beltangady, July 15: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the high-profile Dharmasthala case has submitted its final report before the Beltangady court, bringing the latest stage of the investigation to a crucial point.

The SIT officials submitted the comprehensive report before Additional Civil Judge Shashank Nagendra Bhat at the Belthangady court at 3 pm on Tuesday.

The final report, compiled into 12 files, contains a total of 7,005 pages, including the earlier 3,923-page report and an additional 3,082 pages prepared after further investigation.

Earlier, on November 20, 2025, the Belthangady SIT had submitted a 3,923-page ‘perjury report’ (false evidence report) under Section 215 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against C N Chinnayya, Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi, Girish Mattannavar, Jayanth T, Vittal Gowda and Sujatha Bhat.

The report was filed in connection with allegations of furnishing false evidence. However, the court had declined to accept the report at that stage and directed the SIT to submit a final report after completing the investigation.

Acting on the court’s direction, the SIT carried out further investigation and submitted the final report with the complete findings of the probe on July 15.

SIT superintendent of police C A Simon, inspectors Kusumadhar and Manjunath, along with other SIT personnel, were present before the court during the submission of the report.

Accused C N Chinnayya also appeared before the court in connection with the case.
