Mumbai, Jul 29: Bollywood actress-producer Kirti Kulhari has allegedly fallen victim to cyber fraud after unidentified hackers gained unauthorised access to her mobile phone and credit card, resulting in a loss of Rs 2.43 lakh within minutes.

Based on Kulhari's complaint, the Amboli police have registered a case against unknown persons and launched an investigation.

According to the FIR, the actress, who resides in Mumbai's Versova area, was at a multiplex near Fun Republic Mall in Andheri West when she received a bank alert about a charge of $2,525 on Aeromexico using her credit card.

Suspecting the transaction to be fraudulent, she immediately contacted the bank's toll-free helpline. Following an inquiry, bank officials informed her that four unauthorised transactions had been carried out using her credit card. The card was subsequently blocked to prevent further misuse.

In her statement to the police, Kulhari said she had never shared her credit card password with anyone and had kept it strictly confidential. Investigators suspect her phone or card details may have been compromised through malware or spyware.

The Cyber Cell has begun tracing the accused using bank reference numbers and digital footprints linked to the fraudulent transactions.

Kulhari was recently in the news after announcing the completion of shooting for her first feature film as a producer. Sharing the update on Instagram, she described the project as a significant milestone and reflected on the journey, saying life had taught her that there is a "right time for everything."
