Mumbai, Jul 30: The trailer of Ramayana: Part One has generated widespread appreciation for its visuals and performances, but one question continues to dominate social media — the absence of Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.

The makers have not officially explained why Hanuman does not appear in the trailer. However, the omission is believed to be a deliberate creative decision linked to the film's two-part narrative.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part One is expected to focus on Lord Ram's life in Ayodhya, his exile, the abduction of Sita and the emergence of Ravana as the central antagonist. The story introduces key characters, including Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Ravana, while reportedly saving Hanuman's entry for a later stage.

According to the chronology of the epic, Lord Hanuman enters the story after Sita's abduction and gradually becomes one of the central figures in the battle against Ravana. His larger role in the latter half of the narrative has fuelled speculation that his full introduction may be reserved for the second instalment or teased towards the end of the first film.

Many fans on social media believe the decision has been made to preserve the impact of Hanuman's appearance. Several users suggested that revealing Sunny Deol's look later could create a stronger cinematic moment and serve as a major cliffhanger ahead of the sequel.

The speculation gained further traction after Sunny Deol revealed during a special trailer screening in Delhi that he had only recently begun shooting his portions for the film.

The actor said he had completed only a small part of his role and still had a long schedule ahead. Calling the opportunity to portray Lord Hanuman a blessing, he described the role as one of great responsibility and said the character's innocence, strength and power made it a unique experience.

Director Nitesh Tiwari has also hinted that Ramayana: Part One will conclude with a cliffhanger, saying the ending is designed to leave audiences eager to watch the sequel immediately.

While he did not reveal any details, his remarks have strengthened speculation that Hanuman's appearance could be among the film's biggest surprises.

Ramayana: Part One features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The cast also includes Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil and Sheeba Chaddha.

The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 8, while Ramayana: Part Two is set to release during Diwali 2027.
