Mangaluru, Aug 21: The department of BBA, Institute of Management & Commerce, Srinivas University, in association with the guest talk forum, organised a guest talk on 'Smart Investing in India: Stock Market Basics and How to Open Demat Account' on August 17 of the institution for the students of II BBA B, III BBA C and II BBA C sections. The session was aimed at providing students with practical knowledge about stock market investment, investment opportunities, financial planning and the process of opening and operating a demat account.
The session was delivered by Dr Venkatesh B M, associate professor, department of MBA, Institute of Management and Commerce, Srinivas University, who provided students with valuable insights into the fundamentals of the stock market and the importance of making informed investment decisions. He explained basic concepts related to shares, stock exchanges, investment strategies, risk and return, and the factors that investors should consider before investing in the stock market.


He also provided a detailed explanation of the step-by-step process of opening a demat account, including the basic requirements and procedures involved in investing in securities.
The session enabled students to understand the practical aspects of stock market investment and the importance of developing sound financial habits. Students gained valuable exposure to financial planning, risk assessment, informed decision-making and responsible investing. The session also helped them understand the functioning of the Indian stock market and encouraged them to explore investment opportunities with proper knowledge and awareness.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr Venkatesh S Amin, dean, IMC, and Prof Shilpa K, HoD, department of BBA. The guest talk was coordinated by Dr Bharathi and Prof Ramya A, guest talk forum coordinators. Their guidance and coordination contributed significantly to the successful organisation of the programme.
The guest talk provided students with an opportunity to interact with the resource person and gain practical insights into stock market investment and demat account procedures. The session also helped students connect their classroom learning with real-world financial practices and enhanced their understanding of investment-related concepts.
