Rhea Chakraborty opens up on traitor fears amid Sushant case shadow

Daijiworld Media Network – Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 20: Actress Rhea Chakraborty opened up about her personal struggles and public scrutiny while participating in the second season of The Traitors, saying she did not want to be chosen as a traitor because of the way she has already been portrayed in public life.

During the latest episode, several contestants suspected Rhea of being the traitor. When Shweta Tiwari asked her why she was so certain that she could not be the traitor, Rhea referred to the intense public attention she faced following the death of her former boyfriend, actor Sushant Singh Rajput, in 2020.

Rhea said she did not want to come on a show and willingly take on a role that could invite further trolling and memes. She also described herself as one of the most trolled people in the country and argued that the suspicion surrounding her could be a distraction from the actual traitor.

The actress further said she does not simply follow the crowd and is not easily influenced, while acknowledging that her personality allows her to influence others.

Rhea remained in the game despite the suspicion. Parul Gulati was eliminated in the episode, while Kullu, Krystle D’Souza and Shahneel Gill continued as the remaining traitors.

Rhea had faced intense public scrutiny after Sushant Singh Rajput's death in 2020. The CBI, which investigated the case, recently filed a closure report and withdrew the allegations against Rhea and her family. She and her brother Showik Chakraborty had also been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in a drug-related case connected to the wider investigation.
