Beltangady: Two Arrested for Theft of Bikes, Stolen Property Seized

Beltangady, Mar 27: Police team led by SI Yogish Kumar on Sunday March 26 busted the modus operandi of two youths who developed a habit of stealing bikes to get ganja for their consumption.

Satish (24) of Devigudi, Sharada Nagara near Mundaje and Mane Mohan (24) of Dombettu of Chamundinagara in Mundaje are the arrested. Three bikes and 76 rubber sheets have been seized.
 
They were arrested from Layila-Kolli road. Bikes were stolen by them from places in Moodigere, Puttur, Uppinangady police limits. Also 76 rubber sheets were stolen from one Ayub’s house in Kellaje of Mundaje.
 
Satish, who was a cleaner of a tanker, is said to be an expert in stealing bikes. He used to also pilfer diesel from tankers. The stolen bikes were seized from areas like Bhatkal and Sirsi. It is also learnt that they had the habit of consuming ganja, and for this reason they started stealing bikes to accumulate money. They would park stolen bikes after the fuel got over. Satish is expert in stealing Hero Honda bikes which were not handle-locked. He could connect the wires and ignite the engine in no time.
 
SI Yogish Kumar, Probationary SI Kabbalraj, staff Dayananda, Sundar Shetty, Shashidhar, Shivananda, Venkatesh, Kanakaraj, Praveen, Sadashiva Gowda and Kanakaraj took part in the operation.
