Mangaluru, Oct 2: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the NCC cadets of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, conducted a special prayer service and assembly along with the entire staff, highlighting the significance of Mahatma Gandhi’s life and ideals, and praying for peace and harmony in the world. The dignitaries paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhiji.
Following the assembly, the NCC cadets enthusiastically participated in Shramadaan, cleaning the areas surrounding the school and demonstrating their commitment to cleanliness and civic responsibility.






























































Prior to this day, grades II A and II B celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in the school auditorium with a meaningful and inspiring programme, paying tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and remembering the legacy of Lal Bahadur Shastri.
The celebration commenced with a prayer, followed by a warm welcome and introduction of the chief guest Dr Malini N Hebbar, principal of Swastika National Business School, Mangaluru. A graceful welcome dance added colour and charm to the occasion, setting a warm and celebratory tone for the programme.
The students highlighted the significance of the day, reflecting on Gandhiji’s timeless principles of truth, non-violence, peace and simplicity, along with Shastriji’s values of dedication, humility and service.
The three monkeys act brought Gandhiji’s message of 'See no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil' to life in an engaging manner, while a melodious group song offered a heartfelt tribute to Bapu.
The highlight of the programme was the Dandi Yatra skit, which vividly portrayed Gandhiji’s historic Salt March of 1930, conveying the enduring spirit of Satyagraha, courage, truth and non-violence.
The dignitaries paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhiji. The chief guest, Dr Malini Hebbar, appreciated the students for presenting a meaningful and inspiring programme that brought Gandhiji’s ideals to life. She encouraged them to imbibe his values of truth, non-violence, simplicity and compassion, and to put them into practice in their daily lives.
In her message, principal, Sr Melissa, emphasised the importance of maintaining cleanliness not only in our surroundings but also in our hearts and minds. Highlighting the spirit of “Swachhata Hi Seva,” she urged the students to keep their classrooms, school premises and homes clean and to make cleanliness a daily habit and a shared responsibility
The winners of the English and Hindi essay writing competition were felicitated, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks. The programme concluded with a vibrant finale and the rendition of the National Anthem.
The programme was compered by Dhruvan Suvarna, Aiden Emmanuel Veigas, Relisha Deena Pinto, Shakti Deepak Poojary and Drish Suvarna. The welcome address was delivered by Bhaavik Srinivasa Moolya, Calida Pereira, Rithul Kumar S, Kushal Sampreeth H M, Venisha Mia Andrade and Joanna Ribha Fernandes, while Adam Rei Fernandes, Ishaara Leah and Jayden Kian Pinto proposed the vote of thanks.
Extending Gandhiji’s message of cleanliness and civic responsibility beyond the stage, the students enthusiastically participated in Shramadaan, cleaning the areas in and around the school. Through this thoughtful initiative, they demonstrated that the true tribute to Gandhiji lies not merely in remembering his ideals but in putting them into practice.
Through the prayer, floral tribute, cultural programme and cleanliness drive, the school honoured Gandhiji’s enduring message that peace, service and cleanliness begin with everyone.
