Bangalore, May 11: The State Government has ordered a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probe against the Karnataka State Open University over ''illegal” conducting technical and para-medical courses.

It may be recalled that Karnataka’s  Medical Education Minister S A Ramdas had recently alleged the KSOU had violated all rules and signed a total of 95 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with institutions across the country in 2010 offering 422 distance education courses, including 34 that fall under the purview of the Medical Education Department.

However, KSOU Vice-Chancellor Rangappa denied the MoUs violated laws.

The Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda had ordered the institution of CID probe following the complaint lodged with him by Ramdas.

Sadananda Gowda had asked the principal secretary of the Higher Education department to examine the matter and submit a report.

After receiving the report, the Chief Minister, who also holds the higher education portfolio, has ordered the Home Department to conduct the probe by the CID and submit a report to the Government according to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
