Kasargod, Jun 18: A woman and her daughter were found dead at Vidyagiri, Vidyanagar here on Monday June 18.

The deceased have been identified as Seemanthini, wife of the late Bharat, and their 32-year-old daughter Savitha.

Their bodies were found in a well in the premises of their house which is located near a forest range office.

Since Bharat's demise, Seemanthini and Savitha had only each other's company. Savitha was employed.

It is said that on Monday, Savitha had applied for leave from office. Her mobile phone was switched off, and repeated tries from her colleagues to contact her for some reason went in vain.

When there was no response from her the entire day, one of her colleagues on suspicion went to call on her at her residence. Finding the house and the premises empty, he raised an alarm and informed the neighbours.

After an intense search, they found the two bodies in the well. Firemen arrived at the spot and fished the bodies out.

It is suspected to be a case of suicide, though the exact reason is not yet known.

The bodies were shifted to Kasargod government hospital.

Vidyanagar police have registered a case.
