Jul 11 : Hello, and a warm welcome to day 4 of the final Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Junaid took 5 wickets but seventies from Paranavitana, Samaraweera and Thisara Perera helped Sri lanka eke out a handy 111 run first innings lead. Pakistan knocked off 27 runs but lost the wicket of Taufeeq Umar in the process. The pitch is getting better for batting and Pakistan will need to dig in today to have any chance of a positive result.
Junaid Khan was the star once again for the visitors and richly deserved his 5 wickets. Ajmal supported him well with 3 scalps. Taufeeq Umar was unfortunately sent packing by umpire Taufel as Pakistan ended the day still 84 runs adrift. The wicket has lost its spice under the hot sun and should become better to bat tomorrow. Will Pakistan show a fight in the second innings or will Sri Lanka run amok? Join us at 9:45 am for all the action. For now, this is Pradeep signing off with Sid P and Sathyavelu.
Excellent day Three for Sri Lanka. They recovered from a dodgy 44/3 thanks to a fine stand of 143 between Paranavitana and Samaraweera. Both batsmen were dismissed in their seventies but Sri lanka found another ally in Perera and Kulasekara. The duo added 84 precious runs for the 8th wicket to enable a lead of more than 100 runs. Perera, who was dropped twice on 11 and 22 was the last to fall for a wonderful 75.
