CM Shettar’s Personal Website Hacked

Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar’s personal website has been hacked. After hacking the site on Monday night, the cyber-terrorists have left a message on the front page of the website that they wanted an independent Kashmir and that they were ready to fight for it.

The website, www.jagadishsettar.com, was launched on September 29, 2010, at a
function held in a private hotel in the City, when Shettar was the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) minister.

BVB Engineering College Principal Ashok Shettar had inaugurated the site, which contained information about the RDPR ministry’s projects and achievements of Shettar.

The hackers, who claim they are of Pakistani origin, call themselves ‘Voice of Black Hat Hackers-Sky Walkers.’

Citing the famous quote - “When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlaw” - of Nelson Mandela, the miscreants have posted several messages in Urdu and English on the site.

“I am ready to give my blood to my nation. I am a Pakistani, I want peace and freedom,” is one of the messages posted on the website.

“The chief minister’s home office has filed a complaint in this regard and we have started investigating it.

Preliminary investigations have traced the hackers’ Internet Protocol address to Hubli,” a senior officer from Bangalore’s Cyber Crime Branch investigating the case told Deccan Herald.

He said only the official websites were foolproof and were given complete protection from hackers.

The hacked site may not be a secure one as it was the chief minister’s personal site.

“The Home Ministry has taken the issue seriously as the miscreants have targeted the chief minister’s site. A team headed by a DCP-level officer has been formed to investigate the case.

The team will look into whether this incident has any connection with the recent arrest of suspected terrorists in Hubli,” he said.

    After reading this report, i opened the website, the website is in good shape, However all outdated news is there. Also i found a link to write to Jagadish Shetter in 2 place and both the links are broken, By any ways its not a good website

    This is common problem with shared hosting. Hackers don't see who is using the servers they will run some mass defacing scripts which will affect all the sites hosted in the servers. They are using cheap , shared servers and this site was also compromised earlier in 24th march 2012 by Indonesian hackers. That time Shettar was not a CM . Anyway I dont think this news require that much importance and as per my experience hackers attack 1000's of sites daily if your front door of server (ports) is not closed or secured. First use proper dedicated server than waste time in searching for thief.

    R.Fernandes, Dubai...I am not justifying BJP scam, But you can add all those togather and minus it from Just a 2G Scam. You can compare what is 500 crore 600 crore or may be 25000 crore and where is 2 Lakh Crore just in one case. & Yes I am a Congress Hater for their reservation & vote bank politics but not a fan of chaddi politics either.
    I said that because someone down there mentioned that only GANDHI rule can save India thats y. If you feel you should pat your back for credit to congress for the saveing of Punjab for whatevr reason please pat your back from my side also and Kudos.     For the technical people out there. If you want to protect your web servers from the attack then it is very much essential to harden the servers. One of the importent aspect is hiding the web servers product identity which is reveled in the HTTP headers. Disable the HTTP headers and possibly add a custom header to hide the web server product identity. Hope this information helps.

    Shaz, Mangalore/Dubai...The same piece of cake is eaten slowly and slowly by chasing away the local pandits & Ethnic cleansing over severle decades after Independance, Just check the map of India if you see any were in Dubai Stores and just see the shape of India's Crown "Kashmir", then you should wonder who ate this peice of cake this big ???. Just compare how India Map looked with full Kashmir which we used to see growing up & now how it sees with half Kashmir. Another twenty yeares even Punjab will go this way. Like you said only after investigation we will come to know the truth behind this incedent and the identitiy of the hackers as even I doubt its all the way from Pakistan, but in recent days we have seen how educated doctors & engineers have contributed significantly for local terror groups and for Intl. So the Hacker may e just sitting in Bangalore somewere or Mangalore who knows ?

    No wonder...they have become HITECH.....Example: recent arrest of terrorist suspects all are highly qualified & MUST BE SOME CONNECTION WITH THESE HACKERS, since the arrest took place in Karnataka....otherwise what Shettar can do with Kashmir issue???....

    There is similarity bitween cyber hackers and our politicians.Both do their work for personal gain. Cyber hackers hack someone's website or bank account for their personal gain and our politicians hacking public fund(money) which has to be used for development, for their personal gain(increase bank balance).
