Why Should I Rejoice Kasab Hanging - Ashish Chowdhry

Mumbai, Nov 21 (IANS): His sister and brother-in-law were killed in the Mumbai terror attack but actor Ashish Chowdhry is not rejoicing the hanging of Pakistani Ajmal Amir Kasab who he says was "brainwashed" and "driven to kill in the name of god".

Kasab, the sole surviving gunman of the 2008 attack, was hanged in Pune Wednesday, after his mercy plea was rejected by President Pranab Mukherjee earlier this month.

"Why should I rejoice Kasab's death? I will rejoice when little innocent children will stop being taught to kill in the name of god and religion," Ashish tweeted.

"Ignorance gave different faces to god, who in my view is one. Hence, religion too is one and that religion is humanity. Kasab was not taught that.

"I sympathise with Kasab. He also was once a small innocent baby, like my son. But unfortunately born around wrong people and wrong teachings.

"I'm sure as a little baby, Kasab didn't plan his outcome. He was brainwashed, driven to kill in the name of god. He didn't know he was wrong," he added.

Kasab was hanged five days before the fourth anniversary of the Mumbai terror attack that claimed 166 lives. Nine of his associates, who were killed, had been secretly buried in the city in January 2010.

Ashish's sister and brother-in-law were held hostage and killed while having dinner at the Oberoi hotel, one of the targets of the terrorists.

"I will not teach my children to rejoice anyone's death - be it Kasab. They will learn to be non-vindictive, non-fanatical and will love all. I'm not saying that I defend the consequence he faced.

"I just feel that rejoicing, or feeling completion doesn't make sense. There's more to it," said Ashish.

"In these four years of awaiting and looking upon Kasab's sentence, I can bet lakhs of new Kasab's were born. Problem lies there. Rejoice when that stops," he added.

Similar rejoicing /celebrations were seen across the US on the death of Bin Laden. But then Laden was sort of self-motivated and if what we gather from media on Kasab to be believed, he was just a Manchurian candidate. But we don’t have separate law for self motivated and brainwashed criminals. Hope, over these four long years, authorities to have extracted all the possible information out of Kasab before taking him to the gallows.

One needs to accumulate a lot of courage to do this or to say this. Specially not holding anything agaist someone who is the reason for the loss of his own. Good learning. Good one and god bless Asish for his noble thoughts.

You quoted Kasab was unfortunately born around wrong people and wrong teachings !!! you should know these wrong people are also innocent when they were born... It depends on every individual to choose either good or bad path... now tell me what is difference between Kasab & them ?

It's o.k. to be philosophical. There are however many ways of looking at such things. I mean it does not require much acumen, or education to learn that 'pain' is the same for all! You just don't butcher innocents for no fault of theirs! Allowing yourselves to be 'whitewashed' is the safest explanation that can be given and it applies to all even the educated! How many Engineers and Doctors have we not seen participating in all these cowardly acts? They have to condemned outright- A philosophist stance can only be understood by a philosophist not by a terrorist! Saap ke aage 'Pungi' hi bajaane Kaa...' Flute' Bajaaya to Lungi Utaake Baagna Padegaa...Samje Mere Bhai......

Religious fanatics like Dr Kalladka Prabhakara Bhat have a lot to learn from Ashish Chowdhry. Muslims and christians are not bad people just because of their religion. No religion teaches bad things. You belong to a particular religion because of your parents. Its not your fault. You can't simply brand a religion is bad as Prabhakara Bhat always does in public and has created a lot of communal unrest in the society.

The terrorists in Pakistan and Afghanistan do not have enough education. They do not have enough food and shelter. Their politicians are not social minded to improve the life of their people. Terrorists and Taliban are taking advantage of this and misleading the innocent people against India in the name of Allah to fight Jihad and offer money and shelter if they kill Indians. So mentality is very poor due to ignorance. These people are like Ghadhas, if they terrorists shout against America, the people follow them. It is difficult to change them unless educate them first. Kasab has joined their friends in the hell. Now no more biryani, only eternal fire and charcoal in the hell. Devils are now taking advantage of these fools in the hell. We have to pray for all these terrorists to be saved from going to hell in future.

As Ashish rightly says, we are born innocent and only when we grow we land either in good or bad company. Ajmal Khasab was trained to kill, perhaps he was brainwashed to come out of the poverty in the family. Life is given by God and He is the one to take away life from us. Rejoicing in someones death is not correct. Only when we put ourselves in Ajmal's position we may realise the true pain he must have gone through in the past 4 years. He must have really repented for his sins before death. May his soul rest in peace.

I totally agree with A. Chowdhry’s view, board minded, main cause for such attacks is due to wrong teaching by evil people in the name of religion.
