Mangalore: Row over Ayyappa Vratha - Principal of Rosa Mystica Clarifies
Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore
Mangalore, Dec 18: Following reports in the media regarding protest by students of Rosa Mystica PU College over Ayyappa Vratha issue, principal of the College Sr Jessy Crasta approached Daijiworld to clarify the matter.
In a statement to Daijiworld, Sr Jessy said that she had received three warnings about students from communal forces. After finding out the names of the students, who belonged to Hindu Yuva Sene and who were 'reportedly giving out their own versions of the college matters', she sent for their parents last week.
"However, instead of bringing their parents, they brought in religious fanatics who trained the students to shout slogans and produce false allegations," she said.
"Even after telling them five times, the students did not bring their parents," she said.
Regarding 'Ayyappa Vratha' the principal said that she had consented and given permission to the students to wear the attire. "But when I came to know that they would be absent for six days of exams in January, the parents were called for and were made aware of their responsibility in co-operating with the college time table of exams in preparation of their final exams of PUC II Year. This issue is totally twisted by the reporters," she said.
She further added that the matter has now been resolved and that no action would be taken against the students. "They can go on piligrimage. If they miss exams it is their responsibility, but no action will be taken," she said.
"I love my students and I have forgiven them for the strike. In all these years I have never dismissed any student," Sr Jessy said.
She also said in her statement that Rosa Mystica PU College was started only in 2010, and that the allegations regarding flowers and Rakhi do not belong to the history of the college. "The pioneering principal had opened the portals of the college even to those who had entered with a second attempt in SSLC, who went out with first class certificate," she said in the statement.
