Mangalore: Row over Ayyappa Vratha - Principal of Rosa Mystica Clarifies

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Dec 18: Following reports in the media regarding protest by students of Rosa Mystica PU College over Ayyappa Vratha issue, principal of the College Sr Jessy Crasta approached Daijiworld to clarify the matter.

In a statement to Daijiworld, Sr Jessy said that she had received three warnings about students from communal forces. After finding out the names of the students, who belonged to Hindu Yuva Sene and who were 'reportedly giving out their own versions of the college matters', she sent for their parents last week.

"However, instead of bringing their parents, they brought in religious fanatics who trained the students to shout slogans and produce false allegations," she said.

"Even after telling them five times, the students did not bring their parents," she said.

Regarding 'Ayyappa Vratha' the principal said that she had consented and given permission to the students to wear the attire. "But when I came to know that they would be absent for six days of exams in January, the parents were called for and were made aware of their responsibility in co-operating with the college time table of exams in preparation of their final exams of PUC II Year. This issue is totally twisted by the reporters," she said.

She further added that the matter has now been resolved and that no action would be taken against the students. "They can go on piligrimage. If they miss exams it is their responsibility, but no action will be taken," she said.

"I love my students and I have forgiven them for the strike. In all these years I have never dismissed any student," Sr Jessy said.

She also said in her statement that Rosa Mystica PU College was started only in 2010, and that the allegations regarding flowers and  Rakhi do not belong to the history of the college. "The pioneering principal had opened the portals of the college even to those who had entered with a second attempt in SSLC, who went out with first class certificate," she said in the statement.

Our Dakshina Kannada, which was earlier peaceful, now has turned into a communal factory, with notorious religious fanatics all over. These fanatics either indulge in direct violence or slowly brain wash to change your mind!! The students who seek admission in particular educational institutions should be provided with enough knowledge about rules and regulations, dress codes etc, before being admitted in the institution. The students should strictly follow uniform system proposed by the institutions. All lungis, black shawls, namaz, burkhas, purdhas, miniskirts should not be allowed inside school premises.
At the same time school authorities should also stop ‘preaching’ about particular religious sects. All school authorities should follow ‘Indianism’ rather than focusing on GOD, since GOD can take care of himself, but the nation needs educated youngsters.

Dear Sr. Jessy you have clarified the issue and also forgiven the Students.
During the Ayyappa Vritha period every year there are such issues erupting and disturbing the Law & Order. It also endup with unnecessary tensions for the Institute, Principal and Students.

Your act perdoning them shall clear all confusion and these Students too should understand the value of your forgiveness & mustcomplete their education in a good way and live as Good Citizens of the Country.

It is not only Christian Institute but happened in Canara College to a couple of days back. Being a Hindu Institute there were tensions and when Principal stood firm by the Code of Conduct of the College the problem seem to be resolved now.

Sr. Jessy great gesture!!! May God bless you keep you strong in your mission.

I think at the time of admission students and parents should be made aware of school policies including withdrawing from the school if the student fail to follow the instructions. Outside groups should never be allowed in the class and school should be strict in adhering the disciplinary process. At the end it is learners responsibility to complete their studies. It seems these students do not have any responsibilities and just attending the classes for their parents sake.

    Will India Improve?
Rosa Mystica is one of the oldest schools with good reputation. The sisters who teach here have sacrificed their family life and moulded the children like a potter to grow as good citizens.

Time for BEO offices or education ministry to strictly ban any religious practices indide the campuses of all the schools & colleges & universities across the state especially the physical aspects of it. Religions to be strictly left at home, especially for childrens & student. Poisioning their mind with half learned or understood religion even at home at this age will not bring any goof for their future.

Even schools & colleges & universities after all these experiences from next year should take a writing or signature acknowledge ment from the students & their parents against practicing all such things inside the campus with specifically mentioning the diffrent practices from Shawl to Burqa or whatever the college intends to implement before confirming the seat to students. Strict disiplinery actions needs to be taken against the students for getting & ganging unauthorised people from the public inside the campus and creating a tense atmosphere & law & order situation inside the campus and thereby distrubing the smooth functioning of the institution and damaging its reputation.Only parents of the concerned need to interfere here not some Rama or Dhoomasene.
