Mumbai, Jul 11: Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan has added another feather to her cap, as her latest film ‘Metro… In Dino’ officially enters her list of top five highest-grossing films in the Hindi market. The film, which completed its first week at the domestic box office, has earned an estimated Rs 26.75 crore, placing it at the fifth spot in her career chart.
Directed by Anurag Basu, the romantic drama — which explores modern-day relationships through multiple narratives — features an ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Sheikh, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher, and Neena Gupta.
While the film failed to create a mass frenzy, it found favour among a niche urban audience, resulting in a steady box office run throughout the week. Starting with Rs 3.5 crore on its opening Friday, the film showed healthy weekend growth — Rs 6 crore on Saturday and Rs 7.25 crore on Sunday. Collections tapered during weekdays but stayed decent for a film in this genre, eventually closing the week with Rs 2.15 crore on Thursday, as per early estimates.
With this, ‘Metro… In Dino’ joins the ranks of Sara’s other major box office earners:
• Simmba – Rs 240.3 crore
• Zara Hatke Zara Bachke – Rs 88.35 crore
• Kedarnath – Rs 68.57 crore
• Love Aaj Kal – Rs 39.76 crore
Despite the challenges of an ensemble format where no single actor dominates screen time, Sara’s performance has received widespread praise, reaffirming her versatility — from intense love stories like Kedarnath to masala entertainers like Simmba, and now to emotionally grounded urban tales.
Sara is now set to team up with Ayushmann Khurrana in two upcoming projects — an action comedy under Karan Johar’s banner and the sequel Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, which will also star Wamiqa Gabbi and be directed by Mudassar Aziz.
Sara’s box office journey reflects her steady growth and her commitment to experimenting with varied roles — a sign that she is here for the long run in Bollywood.
