Mumbai, Feb 1 (IANS): The Jaguar C-Type, the car which brought Jaguar its first victory in the Le Mans 24-hour race, will make a debut appearance in India at an event in Mumbai next week, a company official said Friday.
"The Jaguar C-Type will make an appearance at the 2013 Cartier 'Travel with Style' Concours d'Elegance on Feb 9 and 10. This will be the car's debut appearance in India," the official said.
The heritage Jaguar C-Type will be displayed at the Jaguar Land Rover showroom in Worli, Mumbai Feb 2-7 and will be at the Cartier 'Travel with Style' Concours d'Elegance Feb 9-10.
In 1951, the Jaguar C-Type won Le Mans at its first attempt, with a further victory in 1953. Its successor, the D-Type, took Le Mans wins in 1955, 1956 and 1957.
"Technical innovations such as the C-Type's disc brakes made their debut on Jaguars at Le Mans, and were rapidly adopted by car makers the world over," the official said.
Jaguar has a history of dynamism, innovation and exclusivity -- with legendary cars like the C-Type, D-Type and the E-Type. Later this year, the new Jaguar F-Type will be launched in India and represents a return to the company's heartland -- a two-seater convertible sports car.
