Chicago, Feb 8 (IANS): Diesel vehicles may become a new trend in the US as American automakers are offering more diesel models, reported Xinhua.
General Motors Co. rolled out its diesel version of Chevrolet Cruze at the Chicago Auto Show which opened Thursday.
Thus, GM joins Volkswagen, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW in making diesel passenger cars for the US market. In 2013, Jeep will offer a diesel version of its popular Grand Cherokee sport utility vehicle; and Mazda Motor Corp. will offer a diesel version of the new-generation Mazda6 sedan.
Diesel-powered vehicles account for only 3 percent of US auto sales at present.
