Kasargod: Police raid PFI office - seize pamphlets, CD

Daijiworld Media Network – Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Apr 26: The police raided the office of Popular Front of India located near Perumbala Bridge here on Thursday April 25 and seized pamphlets and CD from the office.

The raid comes in the wake of the arrest of 21 Popular Front of India (PFI) activists from Narath in Kannur recently. Explosives and lethal weapons had been reportedly recovered from their possession.

The raiding party was led by Adoor police circle inspector, Satish Kumar. It is learnt that the police are now verifying the contents of the CD.

The raid was conducted basing on the information that the 21 arrested activists as above are closely connected with terrorist organizations. On Tuesday, during their raid on a building in Narath, the police had recovered country bombs and lethal weapons, besides arresting 21 activists of the Front. The intelligence wing had collected information that training in arms was being imparted in Narath, in the name of public service.

In all likelihood, the case relating to the recovery of explosives and other things in Kannur will be handed over to National Investigation Agency. The police have already conveyed full details of their operation to the home ministry.

The police have said that the activists were getting arms training in the building under construction at Narath, which was raided by them. Pamphlets of PFI were recovered from the building. The police have reasons to believe that these activists are linked to terrorist organizations.
