Pierce Brosnan's daughter dies of ovarian cancer


London, Jul 2 (IANS): Actor Pierce Brosnan's daughter has died after a three-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Charlotte (41), whose mother (Cassandra Harris) and grandmother both died of the same disease, passed away June 28 where she lived with her husband Alex Smith, daughter Isabella, 14, and son Lucas, eight, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

"On June 28 at 2 p.m. my darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life, having succumbed to ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her husband Alex, children Isabella and Lucas and brothers Christopher and Sean," Brosnan told people.com.

"Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl. We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon. We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences," added the 60-year-old actor.

Brosnan adopted Charlotte and her brother Christopher, the children of his first wife Cassandra Harris, after the death of their father Dermot Harris in 1986. He also has a son, Sean, with Cassandra.

in 2001, Brosnan married Keely Shaye Smith and the couple has two children - Dylan, 16 and Paris, 12.
