Udupi, Jun 1: "Persons and organizations which often boast that they have been established to protect the rights of the people, are now turning into anti-social elements.  With the support of people with high influence, these organizations are taking law into their hands.  Despite being involved in anti-social activities, they walk out scot-free owing to the political support they have.  These organizations which have strong support from their particular religion should be involved in activities which build up a healthy society and not in activities which destroy the secular fabric of the society," opined former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake.

He was speaking at the protest meet organized at the Kavadi government high school on Wednesday May 31, protesting the murder of aged Krishnayya Pathali by Bajrang Dal activists recently.

As reported earlier, Krishnayya Pathali who was involved in cattle trading in the area for long, was assaulted by Bajrang Dal activists.  As a result he had sustained serious injuries owing to which he died in the hospital a couple of days later.

His death has now evoked strong protest in the area both from public as well as the political parties.

MLC Pratapchandra Shetty, former Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandary, taluk panchayat vice president Rajaram, taluk panchayat former president Bhujang Shetty too were present on the occasion.
