Mangalore, Jun 30: Now it is the turn of Congress to blame the BJP-JD (S) government for the poor state of roads in the district.  The party has already said that the roads have been owing to the continued running of manganese ore lorries on these roads.

It indeed seems to be a great paradox.  When Congress was ruling the state, they were hardly speaking anything about this menace.  But BJP which was in the opposition had often taken to the streets opposing the running of manganese ore-laden lorries.  One of the MLA's had even sat on a check-post to check the lorries along with his supporters.

But the problem had taken a different turn when it was known that two BJP MLAs themselves involved in the business as their lorries to transported manganese ore.  Now that the government has changed, BJP has turned dear ear to the problem.  One of those MLAs whose lorries are transporting manganese ore has now become the minister.

Now Congress has taken up the issue.  It has blamed the BJP-led government for the bad state of roads in and around the town.

Speaking at a press conference former state minister Ramanath Rai attributed the pathetic state of roads to the plying of over-loaded lorries on these roads. He said that if the government does not stop these lorries, the Congress workers would do that job.

He indirectly said that one of the present cabinet minister has been pressuring the officials not to lorries since lorries owned by him are involved in the business.

Mayor K Ashraf, former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty, party leaders Kallige Taranath Shetty, Ivan D'Souza, Suresh Ballal, former mayors Diwakar and others were present at the press conference.
