Union cabinet discusses UP train accident


New Delhi, May 27 (IANS): The union cabinet which met for the first time after the new government took over Tuesday observed silence in memory of the people who lost their lives in the express train accident in Uttar Pradesh.

The Gorakhdham Express Monday rammed into a stationary goods train, killing at least 25 people and injuring over 100 others.

Briefing reporters after the meeting of the union cabinet here, Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the cabinet discussed the accident and observed silence for the victims.

"The railways minister has called a high-level meeting on safety issues," he said.
