CM assures film ind of govt support for construction of Janata Theatres

Bangalore, Jun 8: Construction of Janata Cinema Theatres for the benefit of the poor and general public will get full support from the State Government, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Sunday.
The chief minister said the State Government would encourage the growth of film industry in the State by helping in the contruction of Janata Cinema theatres in all taluk and district headquarters.

The Chief minister also promised to provide all support to set up a film city in Bangalore with the participation of the private sector.

The Chief Minister told the industry representatives that all required support would be extended to the private entrepreneurs who come forward to invest in the film city project. 

The government has proposed to set up the film city at Hesaraghatta on the outskirts of the city.

KFCC President H D Gangaraju and SIFCC President Shashikumar attended the meeting and submitted a memorandum to the Government. 

They said that the industry was suffering due to high service tax .

Earlier, industry members submitted a memorandum to the government and sought support for construction of Janata theatres in district headquarters. 

They urged the government to bring all multiplex theatres under the purview of KFCC.

Members of the Film Federation of India (FFI), South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) and Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) called on Siddaramaiah at his home office Krishna in Bangalore on Sunday and discussed issues pertaining to the industry.

Minister of State for Information R Roshan Baig said the government would also look into the issue of injustice meted out to Kannada film industry in multiplex theatres.
