Mangalore: Konkani Club inaugurated at Sacred Heart High School

Mangalore, Aug 5: The Konkani club at Sacred Heart High School was inaugurated on Monday August 4 by seeking the grace of God.

The guests were welcomed in the traditional culture of offering betel leaves and water. 


Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy president Roy Castelino and school headmistress Sr Cecilia Mendonca inaugurated the Konkani Club by unfurling the words 'Konkani Ulai Konkani Fulai.' 

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest of the programme Roy Castelino explained to the children the importance of Konkani at home and in school. He suggested the parents to support their children, so that the love towards Konkani among the children remains and grows day by day.

Many entertainment programmes were held. The children gave speeches about Konkani, Konkani songs, dance, home-made medicines, skits, poetry and other programmes were held.

Konkani promotion secretary Vithori Karkala, member of Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy Lawrence D'sousa, Sacred Heart Primary School Sr Jessylina and Sr Anna Maria were present during the occasion.

Reinald Lobo and Melban Ludrigue compered while the vote of thanks was given by Ashly.

    Good initiative by Sacred Hearts High School, Sisters and Mr.Roy Castelino. Konkani is a sweet and rich language. Let it flourish.
