Bangalore, Sep 11: Karnataka has contributed a sum of Rs 5 crore towards the relief fund of the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, which is facing the worst-ever flood devastation in the last several decades.

According to reports, nearly 700 people from Karnataka have been stranded in Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.

Over a hundred tourists from the State, who have been rescued from flood-devastated Jammu and Kashmir, are camping at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar.

The rescued persons from Karnataka are eagerly waiting for airlift to reach the airport.

A road connecting to the airport at Sringar was totally damaged owing to floods.

Heavy rains washed away various roads, triggered landslides, submerged highways and disrupted even inter-district communication in Jammu and Kashmir.

The situation in Srinagar was grim following incessant rain for a week and several parts of the City was flooded, resulting in deaths of hundreds of people and devastation in several areas.
