Bangalore, Sep 25: With a view put an end to frequent transfers of teachers, the Siddaramaiah regime has fixed minimum three years of tenure for newly recruited teachers of primary schools in one school.

Karnataka’s Primary and Secondary Education Minister KimmaneRatnakarindicated that all newly recruited teachers would be posted in schools of their respective districts.

All teachers have to put minimum three years of service in schools where they would be posted and 10 years in their home districts, the minister said.

Ratnakar said the Education Department has been receiving several thousands of petitions seeks frequent transfer of teaches every years. Having a fixed tenure would avoid pleas for frequent transfers, he explained.

The minister said an examination cell of the Public Instruction department conducted Teachers’ Eligibility Text (TET) for teachers as about 11,500 teachers would be recruited.

Over 3.70 lakh candidates appeared for the test. There are 16,000 vacancies. The Finance Department has given approval to recruit 11,500 posts.

Tests in English language and computer (25 marks each) would be made mandatory from next year in the recruitment of high school teachers.

The Karnataka Examination Authority would conduct tests, the minister said.

A meeting with representatives of Kannada organisations and writers would be convened after Dasara celebrations to decide the next course of action on making mother tongue (Kannada) the compulsory medium of instruction in primary education, he said.

The Supreme Court rejected a review petition on making mother tongue (Kannada) the compulsory medium of instruction in primary education.

The minister saida Constitutional amendment to provide for giving primacy for respective regional languages in primary education in each States can solve the problem.

Minister you deserve kudos if you implement a fixed tenure for teachers in a school. You can also ensure that the teacher knows the schools he/she would be transfered during the course of the service in advance. Such a mechanism will arrest corruption where it is mandatory for every teacher to serve as specified. Such institutions should consist of both rural and urban areas alternatively so that the expertise of good teachers is available to the rural and urban children alike.

Not answering a question does not have to mean not knowing the answer. Question to really ask is whether it is acceptable for a TV channel (as opposed to a qualified authority) to ask such questions in the first place ? They seem to be more interested in sensationalizing things.

Same reporters asked our CM regarding the MLA's study tour of our MLA and he answered " I don't know and may be they are going with their family on their own money" My question is did these MLA's travelled any time to Delhi with their own money. Some of our MLA's are not knowing own national anthem. This shows we have people on chair only.
