Rain halts play in Windies-Zimbabwe clash


Canberra, Feb 24 (IANS): Rain halted play in the World Cup clash between the West Indies and Zimbabwe at the Manuka Oval here Tuesday.

Zimabwe were at 18/1 in 2.3 overs while chasing the West Indies' mammoth total of 372/2 which they piled on in 50 overs. Chris Gayle scored the highest score and the first double hundred of World Cups with his 219 while Marlon Samuels scored 133 not out.

They duo also struck the best One-Day International (ODI) partnership so far with their 372-run stand.
