India pooled with Poland, Ghana, Thailand


New Delhi, Feb 27 (IANS): The Indian women's hockey team has been put in Pool A with Poland, Ghana and Thailand for the FIH World League Round 2 to be held at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here from March 7 to 15.

Pool B consists of Malaysia, Russia, Kazakhstan and Singapore.

The winners of the tournament will progress to World League Round 3, the final stage of qualification for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

India begin their campaign by taking on Ghana on the opening day.

"It’s an honour to host yet another international tournament of this stature and we look forward to exhilarating hockey to be played in the upcoming league between the eight participating teams," Hockey India (HI) secretary general Mushtaque Ahmad said.
