Kundapur, Mar 1: Sri Gurujyothi Sports Club, Gangolli here celebrated its 23rd year anniversary recently on a grand scale near the government ice plant near here.

The programme was preside by Seva Sangama Nivedita Shishu Mandir president Nagaratna  Udaya Shet. Speaking on the occasion, she said that it was highly commendable on the part of the club to encourage the local athletes. She also said that it was gratifying to observe that the club had become a model for others to emulate.
 
Renowned lawyer Kiran Murudeshwar was the chief guest. Social worker Sumitha of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) handed over the prizes to winners of various competitions.

Shravya S Rao who had won a singing competition organized as part of Canara Bank centenary celebrations was honoured on the occasion.

Sports Club president R Raghavendra Kharvi welcomed the gathering while secretary Harish Kumar read the annual report. Honorary president Radhakrishna Shanbhag proposed the vote of thanks. Sneha Billava compered.

As part of cultural programmes, Smash dance troupe of Udupi and Step on Step Dance Academy members performed various movie dance numbers while Subhash entertained the audience with mimicry.

Rosary School Students Win Karate Contest

Kundapur: Students of Holy Rosary English Medium Higher Primary School here have won the first and second places in state-level open Karate championship.

The winners are Anoop, Raksha, Rajan D’souza, Sukesh Holla and Rajath R.

The students won in the Kata and Kumite categories.
