Kundapur, Mar 9: The prestigious Ko Ma Karanth award for the year 2007 has been announced.  Former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat and Dharmadarshi Harikrishna Punaroor will be conferred with Ko Ma Karanth Award this year.  The award has been bestowed on him for his enormous contribution in the field of education, literature, religion and social service.

The award established by Ko Ma Karanth Trust is given every year to one person who has contributed enormously in various fields. 

In its earlier editions freedom fighter K N Rao Dandeli, scientist Kundapura Karunakara, the administrative director of MTR Sadananda Mayya, cine actress Vaishali Kasaravalli, industrialist of international repute and journalist Dr Subhaschandra Shetty, film director Leslie Carvello and humour litterateur Dundiraj were the recipients of this award.

The award has been instituted in the name of Koni Mahabaleshwara Karanth who had worked as journalist, coach, free-lance writer, lecturer and banker.
