Udupi, Mar 20: The bodies of two students from Haryana, who were studying in the second semester of M Tech at IIIT, Bangalore, were handed over to their relatives who arrived here to claim the bodies.

The two had drowned in the sea near the Kaup lighthouse on Sunday noon.

The tragic story sounded more poignant when it came to light that the boys were the only sons of their respective parents. The parents of both students are said to have been shattered after hearing the news.

Sumit Khurana (23) was the son of Ashok Khurana and Rani Devi of Panipat, Haryana. His body was taken to Haryana by his brother-in-law Vishal Makhija.

Shubham Gokul (24) was the son of Kishen Kumar Gokulani and Mamata, and his body was taken to Bangalore by his brother-in-law Rohit Dilani.

The other two of the group of four students who went for swimming, Varun and Dhruv, returned to Bangalore with heavy hearts, after having lost their two companions.
