Bantwal, Mar 21: The 27th annual Kisan Mela will be held from Wednesday April 4 to Friday to April 6 at Bantwal, informed Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade while addressing a press meet at Bantwal near here on Tuesday March 20.

He informed that the Mela, organised by Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), will be held at paddy fields adjacent to NH 48 near BC Road.

The inauguration will be done by Balagangadharanatha Swamiji of Adichunchangiri Math at 10 am on April while the valedictory address on April 6 will be delivered by state minister for agriculture Bandeppa Kashempur.

The event will aim to bring together people from all castes and classes, thus creating a sense of unity among people.

Stating that lack of information was the chief obstacle for the welfare of farmers, he said that the Kisan Mela will also create awareness about the various advances in technology which most farmers do not know about.

Exhibitions, workshops, film screening on farming, rural sports, discussion forums, cattle show and panel discussions on various agriculture-related topics will be part of the event.

Among those present at the press meet were district in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty, former minister B Ramanath Rai, SKDRDP director L H Manjunath, Kisan Mela committee head Erya Lakshminarayan Alva and others.
