Mangalore, Mar 27: Mangalore University plans to construct a 400 metre track and a sports stadium at an estimated cost of Rs one crore.

This was announced by University vice-chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa at the felicitation ceremony of inter-university and inter-collegiate sports winners held at the University premises here on Monday March 26. Winners of various cultural programmes held during the course of the year at the University were also awarded on the occasion.

Prof Kaveriappa further informed that the University also plans to provide 15 sports scholarships to deserving students from first year degree in order to encourage sports among the youth.

Among those present were Shree Devi Education Trust chairman A Sadanand Shetty, University Physical Education director H Nagalingappa and student welfare director K K Achary.
