Mangalore, Mar 28: A masked man who broke open into a house at Kinya near Ullal decamped with valuables worth Rs 40,000 on Tuesday March 27 night.

A masked man said to have entered one Naseema's house at Kinya on Tuesday night.  At that time there were only 3 women but no men in the house.  The man had entered the house with an intention of theft.

But the women in the house woke up after hearing certain noise in the midnight.  At this point he threatened them with a knife in his hand and warned them that he would kill them if they shout for help.

He later asked them to hand-over all the valuables and ornaments.  But when the women did not give him ornaments and cash, he fled the place with a few ornaments from the cupboard.  The total value of the stolen ornaments is estimated at Rs 40,000.

Sources said that this theft could be the handiwork of one of Naseema's relatives who knew that only 3 women and no one else were in the house on Tuesday night.  He might have come with the intention of looting the house while they were sleeping.  But when they woke up, he had no other way than threatening them with life.

The Ullal police have registered a case in this regard.
