Nepal cricketers to practice in HPCA stadium

Dharamsala, May 29 (IANS): The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) will be hosting a 27-member contingent of cricketers from earthquake-devastated Nepal in its stadium in this Himachal Pradesh town for a two-week camp from June 5, an official said on Friday.

All the expenses for hosting the team will be borne by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), HPCA press secretary Mohit Sood told IANS.

"As a goodwill gesture we will do our best for the visiting team that will help the Nepalese cricketers recovering from the natural disaster and spring back to normal cricketing activities," Sood added.

The stadium, 250 kms from state capital Shimla, has a 21,600-seating capacity, besides a world class indoor stadium comprising video analysis facilities for both bowlers and players, a club lounge, restaurant, bar and banquet hall.

It has hosted nine IPL matches and two international matches.
