Udupi, Apr 16: A national seminar on ‘Idea of India’ organised by Rathabeedi Gelayaru was held at MGM College here on Sunday April 15.
Speaking on the occasion, renowned social scientist Dr Ashish Nandi said that it is the religion that protects people and nobody can claim to protect religion.
Noted Kannada writer U R Ananthamurthy was felicitated on the occasion by Academy of General Education registrar K K Pai.
On Saturday April 14, Dr Ananthamurthy inaugurated the Gandhi study centre at the college premises. A seminar on ‘Hind Swaraj’ was also held on the occasion.
Among those present were MGM College principal Jayaprakash Mavinakuli, scholar Prof G K Govind Rao, Rathabeedi Gelayaru president Prof K S Kedilaya and others.
