Mangalore, Apr 16: Rs 1.06 crore has been released to upgrade the road from Pumpwell to Thokkotu.
The plan to upgrade the road was drawn up eight months ago by the department of National Highway but the work did not progress as there were plans to convert it in to a four lane. MLA late Haji U T Fareed had written a letter to Oscar Fernades, M Veerappa Moily, Rajya Sabha member B Janardhan Poojary and to the department of National Highway to take up the work soon.
With the release of the funds, the work on the upgradation is expected to begin soon.
