Mangalore, May 3: Chairman of the Central Administrative Reforms Commission M. Veerappa Moily has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that Mangalore in Dakshina Kannada district was the best suited site for establishing the Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPIR).

The letter lists out various qualifications of the city to have the prestigious investment hub for petroleum, chemical and petrochemicals in the country. Mr. Moily pointed out that the city hosted a mega petroleum complex at MRPL and a large extent of non-agricultural land was also available in and around Mangalore for setting up the PCPIR.

The region was also well connected through air, land and sea to all parts of the world. Since the city also had good scope for expansion of infrastructure it could hold various establishments connected with the PCPIR, he said.
