Mysore, May 3: A pack of three stray dogs went on a biting spree yesterday and today, injuring 10 residents including two children in Beedi Workers Colony of Azeez Sait Nagar.

They attacked seven persons within 10 minutes since 6 am today.

Chand and his wife Nazeema, who were sleeping on the platform (jagali) of their house, were the first to be attacked at around 6 am. The canines bit a 14-year-old boy, Allabaksh, who was sleeping in another corner of the same platform.

Roaming around menacingly, the dogs later attacked Suresh, a pourakarmika, who was sweeping the road. The dogs did not spare Puttamma and her neighbour Mahadeva, who were cleaning the foreground of their houses.

Next it was the turn of Munawar Pasha to be attacked while he was idling outside his house.

The residents alleged that the dogs attacked two sheep also in the locality.

Congress leader Mohd. Ayub brought the victims to the K.R. Hospital, where they were treated. In Ghousia Nagar 'A' Block, two dogs attacked a three-year-old Nayeem Pasha who was playing near his house and injured him severely in the hips yesterday.

Within minutes, another boy Munawar Pasha, aged about 7 years, was attacked. An auto driver, Altaf, who went to the rescue of the child, was also bitten by the dogs.

The City Corporation seems to have slowed down or abandoned the dog catching drive after the initial enthusiasm in the wake of Bangalore incidents.

JD(S) leader Ayub Khan, talking to Star of Mysore, alleged that Health Section authorities in the City Corporation did not respond despite complaining to them about yesterday's incidents.
