Udupi, May 5:  ‘Silver KAPICON – 2007’ an annual conference of Karnataka state Association of Physicians of India was inaugurated on Friday May 4.  The conference will be held till Sunday May 6.

State medical education minister Dr V S Acharya said that India has a tradition of providing holistic healthcare, even after introduction of the modern system of medicine (Allopathy) in the country. The practice of modern medicine was holistic in nature and it was producing family physicians.

Family physicians had pride of place in the society and they were healthcare provider to the entire family. So the people had a great confidence in their family physician.

He said that the Medical council of India, Universities and the API should come forward to revive the institution of family physician.  It is necessary that the healthcare should be provided at an affordable cost and the best healthcare.

N R Rao welcomed the gathering, vice-chancellor of Manipal University Raj Warrier, dean of Kasturba Medical College RSP Rao, chairman of Karnataka chapter of API V G Nadagowda and secretary of KAPICON Ravi were also present at this occasion.
