Udupi, May 7: As many as ten Kannada books focusing on the life and achievements of 10 eminent persons, under the series ‘Nadige Namaskara’ by Kantawara Kannada Sangha were released here on Sunday May 6,

Speaking after releasing the books, Kannada Book Authority S G Siddaramaiah stressed on the need to protect and promote the local culture and lauded the efforts of the Sangha in this regard.

The personalities on whom the books were written are D Veerendra Heggade written by B T Sampat Kumar, Bannaje Govindacharya by B Ramesh Bhat, Mandar Keshava Bhat by Niketan, Kedambady Jathappa Rai by V G Naik, Muliya Gopalkrishna Rao by Janardhan, Sadananda Suvarna by Seethalakshmi Karkikodi, Palathadka Keshava Bhat by Vasanth Kumar perla, Vasanth Kumar Rao Kaikamba by Vishweshwara V K, U P Upadhyaya by S R Arun Kumar and Janardhan Gurkur by B Janardhan Bhat.

He said that the literature should lead to the development of a harmonious relationship in the society, and drive away evils like casteism.

Sidharamaiah said in coming 10 years human relation in society and family will collapse due to the importance give to the sectors like information technology and biotechnology. He also said in olden days books were being brought out by publishing houses which had real love for the book. It has become a commercial affair, and the books that are being supplied to the libraries are of low quality which has resulted in libraries losing their importance in the modern society.
