Mangalore, May 8: In order to offer banking services to their clients and customers, Corporation Bank has tied up with Mumbai’s dabbawallas. This is yet another initiative of the bank to reach out to the approaching customers at their places.

A memorandum of understanding was signed in Mumbai between dabbawalas and the Corporation Bank recently. On this occasion, B Sambamurthy, chairman and managing director of the Bank, said that dabbawalas, who cater to around 1.25 lac office goers and 50,000 students everyday, is a big client base which the bank is looking for expanding its operation in Mumbai.

He added that dabbawallas have earned worldwide acclaim and have become an example for case studies in leading business schools for their ingenious methods and effective supply chain management.

However, many of dabbawalas do not have bank accounts and he said that the bank would venture to bring them to the banking fold.
