Mysore, May 9: An incident of a Christian priest from Kollegal committing suicide in city was reported yesterday.
Fr. Louis J. Benjamin (45) of Christian Street, Kollegal, is the victim, whose body was found near Sundar Arcade opposite the Suburban Bus Stand here.
On receiving the information, Nazarbad Police Station Sub-Inspector Srikanth and staff visited the spot and conducted mahazar. It is felt that the priest might have consumed poison.
The Police also informed about the incident to the family members of the deceased. The body was handed over to the relatives in the afternoon, after postmortem at Mysore Medical College mortuary.
It is said, Benjamin had left home on Sunday, saying that he would to go Mangalore. It is also learnt that he was ailing for the past few months.
Nazarbad Police have re-gistered a case and are investigating.
