Sullia, May 9: A new-born baby boy was found abandoned by the Kayipalla river banks in Markanja village here on Tuesday May 8 morning.

The child was in good health and was found sleeping by the river banks.  One Sitaram who saw the child first took it to Sullia hospital from where the child was taken to Lady Goschen Hospital in Mangalore for treatment.

So far nothing is known about the persons who abandoned the infant.  However, as in other cases, it is suspected that the child might be the result of either extra-marital or pre-marital relationship.  Since it is a baby boy, there is no question of abandoning by parents, said many.

A case in this regard has been filed in Sullia police station.
