Mangalore, May 11: The Suratkal police on Wednesday night arrested one Nazeer of Ambikanagar, Kavoor for holding an amount of rupees ten lac, the source of which he failed to declare.

He reportedly travelled from Goa to Udupi by train and then travelled to Suratkal by car.  While going on foot on the Bajpe road at Kana with bundle, a police jeep passed by and he tried to hide himself.

The police, upon suspicion, stopped for an inquiry and he claimed the bundle to be a package of books. Upon further investigation it was found to contain cash money. In the presence of witnesses, it was counted and it amounted to Rs ten lac.

He failed to account for the source of the large amount in his possession. In the meantime, it also came to light that he owns a scrap-dealing shop at Kudroli in the city and is already facing charges of having bought stolen goods of considerable value, which had been stolen from Bajpe.

He was produced in court later.
